Always Be Improving

In the last year or so I’ve experienced new challenges that I haven’t faced before. Some personal/family challenges and some career challenges that have stretched me in a manner that makes me feel proud to have had handled them the way that I did. Especially as it concerns my role and responsibilities in the Human Resources industry and where I would like to see my career headed in Industrial Organizational Psychology.

With so much changing in both of these fields, I believe the best way to handle any change is to accept that change is a constant. It’s the one force that will never be controllable. Instead, controlling how to respond and adjust as change comes is a skill that I would recommend anyone work on.

Always be improving.

Always reframe your mistakes as an opportunity to grow.

More recently, this meant that when I sent an email with incorrect information, I would quickly recall it and go as far as to make a phone call to who I was emailing. Something that isn’t much in practice where I work but highly valuable in conveying a message with the proper intent.

How you communicate your message matters the most.
